Geek Out: Why You Can’t Catch The Coronavirus From Your Vaccination.
Significant side-effects but these do not include autism!
Everyone on the planet already has an opinion on the topic of the MMR, the measles, mumps and rubella vaccination and I don’t think I’ll change anyone’s mind so I’ll present, without further comment, the following facts for people to consider:
The original study was based on 12 children (check this link: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3136032/
By way of comparison the various corona vaccines now licensed were administered to tens of thousands of people (and both their effectiveness AND safety considered).
Andrew Wakefield and the other scientists involved in the study were found guilty of deliberate fraud and the medical journal ultimately retracted their paper (check this link: https://www.bmj.com/content/342/bmj.d22)
A review of the data collected by 87 different research groups, from a little over 13 million vaccinated children, shows no link between this vaccination and the development of autism in children (check out these two links:

Something unrelated to autism but very interesting about the MMR - when the mumps vaccine was available as a single injection, before its bundling with the measles and rubella vaccinations, not many people availed themselves of it.
I get it, mumps is caused by a virus doesn’t make its patients especially unwell other than general viral symptoms for a few days, along which swollen chipmunk cheeks! However, for some males, in addition to the swollen cheeks, the testes will also swell and that can lead to a loss of fertility, so kind of a big deal actually.
Immunization:
strictly speaking, immunization is the process the body undertakes in response to a vaccination. However, let’s not be precious about this because, in society today, immunization and vaccination are used interchangeably.
Corona virus:
for the sake of clarity, I’ve just referred to the corona virus throughout here, because we all know I’m talking about the corona virus that causes the disease COVID 19.
For anyone who’s interested, COVID-19 is short for COrona VIrus disease 2019, and it’s caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) which in turn is one of approximately 7 different corona viruses (according to the CDC) than can infect and cause illness in humans.
Almost defenseless:
Actually, this is a gross over-simpification. Vaccines work because they activate our acquired immune system but there’s another branch to our immune system, the innate branch. This part of our immune system function is really important and includes everything from the ability of the skin to function as a barrier to germ entry, to the vomiting and diarrhea reflexes that expel germs (!)This part of our immune system though, doesn’t learn to recognize previously encountered germs so each time it’s activated, it’s like the first time, and we’re ill before we’re better!
If you’ve got questions about this let me know (or if you want a whole post about this!)
Killed germs are also referred to as inactivated.
Weakened are also referred to as attenuated
If you’re wondering why not make all vaccines contain killed virus/bacterium, attenuated vaccinations often produce a more robust immune system response i.e we produce greater amounts of antibodies etc. However, because the germ hasn’t been killed, they can be a little more risky, especially in people with compromised immune systems – as you know if you ever watched a US commercial for any drug, there’s a huge list of side-effects that’s always presented at the end (typically these are rare, but by law they have to be mentioned). Medicine and medication is not black and white, it’s often about giving the patient the best chance for the least “cost”
Spike proteins:
Well strictly speaking, not the whole protein but sections of it, enough for the immune system to recognize in future – kind of like the house number, road and zip/postal code of your address, but not the town – your mail carrier can get you your mail without that town part, as long as they have the other parts
Warp speed:
If you’d like to read a little more about the history of the development of mRNA vaccines, this is a really readable overview:
